Basic and affordable cover

Essentials is Select & Protect’s newest and most cost effective product. The policy caters specifically for those who require basic, low cost cover, such as first time buyers, homeowners new to insurance and those on a budget.

The cover is limited and only provides the key elements of cover to protect the home so be sure that this policy fully meets your customer’s insurance needs. Please ensure that the customer is made fully aware of the exclusions and limitations of the Essentials policy.

Please note that the Buildings Sum Insured will be calculated using our Rebuild Cost Calculator and is only a guide. You must ensure that this level of cover fully meets the cover of rebuilding the property and the customers’ needs so as to avoid under insurance. In the event of a claim, the sum insured is the maximum that we will pay out.

Product highlights include:

Buildings cover up to £250,000 - meaning lower average Buildings premiums
Contents cover between £15,000 - £30,000 – reduced cover levels for the target market meaning a saving on the premium
New for old cover (excludes clothes and linen) – a fairer way to offer replacement items
The ability to upgrade to other Select & Protect policies as the customer’s lifestyle changes – ensuring your customers stay on the right cover and their premiums reflect the cover required
A No Claims Discount that won't be lost altogether at the first claim. It's merely stepped back, depending on the type and frequency of claims – ensuring customers keep their premiums lower for longer
A range of discounts offered - First Time Buyers; Combined Buildings & Contents policies; No Claims Discounts; Age of property; Age of owner – whoever your customer is, they’re likely to receive some form of discount
