Weather damage claims come flooding in...

Last week’s high winds and heavy downpours wreaked havoc across the country. Usually at this time of year it is the frozen pipes and broken boilers that cause the greatest anxiety for a large number of the 24 million households in this country. Up until this week Select and Protect have been experiencing a relatively benign winter, with the amount of claims activity at a reasonable level. But this changed dramatically when 197 new claims were notified in just one day last week, putting the highest single December day of 67 claims into some context.

Commenting on the increase in claims levels Bruce Reid, Managing Director of Select & Protect says “It’s important that we have built the capacity and service within our business to be able support the customers of our brokers when they need it most, after all your home insurance is only as good as your ability to pay claims or get people out to fix roofs or move fallen trees.”

Reid continues “because of the strong relationship we have with our Insurer partners, we can resolve the vast majority of customer claims without fuss or need to seek permission, giving a high quality service at a time when customers find out how good their policy really is. Our team based in Southend have been trained to react proactively and sympathetically to claimants, clearly demonstrating the value of our service.”
